JEWETT DESIGN STUDIOS
Open Plan Design Studios
Located at the California College of the Arts new campus, the project is an interior classroom area within a converted bus maintenance facility. The scheme consists of simple white planes working in three dimensions.
Public / Private
Tall walls running the short dimension of the building allow painters to work on large canvases. Shorter walls running the long dimension of the building serve as display surfaces while preserving the views out the industrial windows. Large pivoting walls along the building’s central gallery allow studios to connect to the common space and form enclaves for public critiques.
