SCHARFFEN–BERGER CHOCOLATE FACTORY
 East Bay Chocolate Factory
The Scharffen-Berger Chocolate Factory is a 27,000 square foot modern manufacturing plant inserted into a historically significant brick warehouse built in 1906.
Manufacturing & Education
A complete seismic and building systems upgrade was performed to preserve the integrity of the existing structure. Inside, we designed an integrated program that both facilitates the company’s unique manufacturing process and educates the public about chocolate making, from cacao bean to chocolate bar. Additionally, we refurbished an adjacent timber-framed wing with new office, retail, cafe, and outdoor terrace spaces.
