Student Group Housing Social Expander
With the goal of maximizing social and cultural density for a site adjacent to the California College of the Arts San Francisco campus, this project proposes the creation of a social expander.
Cultural Density
This project is composed of 13 Group Houses with Resident Assistant Suites for each Group House, 2 Visiting Faculty Studios, and a Director’s Residence, for a total of 597 beds.
Maximized Connectivity
While the Group Houses have their own shared living, kitchen, and dining spaces, interconnectedness between Group Houses is also maximized. A high-performance envelope explores variations in porosity to connect these residences to the larger campus community and the city of San Francisco.
